About the Artist
My jewelry aims to evoke emotion-filled actions: a protective embrace, the tumultuous flow of a river, the grace of an ice-skater's pirouette, the joyful bounce of children dancing. The lines I create in my jewelry often suggest movement, and are inspired by various movements I experience when dancing: I try to translate the feeling of a bodily movement into the feeling suggested by a line in the shape of the jewelry. Hence, my jewelry uses many sensuous curves and swirls. The gemstones are often used to emphasize the lines of the jewelry, or to suggest movement along those lines - for example, tiny stones punctuating a swirl invite the eye to move along the swirl, inducing in the viewer the sensation of a dancer or ice-skater's twirl - as illustrated be the Dancing in Blue earrings. The evocative power of gemstones is further brought to life through expressive color combinations, and the choice of cut, shapes, and textures.
