About the Speaker

Marina Isgro is Associate Curator of Media and Performance Art at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. She is curator of the current exhibition Laurie Anderson: The Weather (running through July 31, 2022) and the forthcoming John Akomfrah: Purple (opening October 27, 2022). She also co-organized the yearlong film and video series Viewfinder, which featured screenings and conversations with women artists from across Smithsonian collections, including Laurel Nakadate. At the Hirshhorn, she oversees the museum's holdings of film and video, digital art, and performance art. She received her PhD in art history from the University of Pennsylvania.
