Join George Mason University (GMU) for a virtual lecture featuring photographer, filmmaker, video and performance artist Laurel Nakadate. Laurel Nakadate: Mother Line is currently on view at Tephra ICA. The exhibition is presented in partnership with GMU and is guest curated by Lily Siegel and Don Russell. A concurrent exhibition, MOTHER, will be on view at Mason Exhibitions Arlington beginning in March 2022. This is the third iteration of the group exhibition co-organized by Nakadate, which was first shown at Leslie Tonkonow Artworks + Projects, New York, in 2018. MOTHER explores the idea of motherhood from a diversity of female perspectives.
Visual Voices Colloquium is the Professional Lecture Series of the School of Art & Design at GMU and represents a window into the professional world of art and design. Speakers are chosen with faculty guidance to represent leading and emerging talented practitioners, as well as artists whose work lies beyond the subject areas of the program offerings.
