About the Artist

Daniel Kepner, owner of Andalog, is a Harrisburg, Pennsylvania based artist with an interest in technology, electricity, and a deep passion for learning new things to combine art with science.
Daniel is a self-taught wood worker and jewelry maker. His artwork is not only intriguing but it offers a bit of history. The origin of the electrocuted wood technique dates back to an experiment from 1777 to understand the structure of lightning that was designed by a scientist named, Georg Christoph Lichtenberg.
Dan has taken this experiment and turned it into art form to feature fractal patterns. He even carves the fractals on several pieces in order to add the beautiful feature of stone, metal, or meteorite inlays. His creativity has evolved to burning through the fractals for his wall art in order to add additional materials such as mirror, metal, and/or wood backings.
He really enjoys creating custom built wood guitars as pictured. This fully functioning guitar was built using a walnut body, a zircote over wenge neck, and custom made knobs/covers using wenge, ziracote, and turquoise stone. The fractals on the guitar body were also inlayed with turquoise. Each piece was hand polished up to 12,000 grit and finished with walnut oil for an extremely smooth texture.
Dan has been an established artist for over 7 years and loves sharing his talent at art shows held all over the east coast.
