Bath, ME
As an artist, I strive to create connections - between myself and my viewer by sharing a moment of visual excitement, whimsy, intrigue, or beauty that I've witnessed, or between us in the daily world and the universe of dreams, magic, and imagination. My medium for doing this is woodcut printmaking. I enjoy the graphic drama and simplicity of black and white prints, like "Sugarhouse", and continue to make them, but I'm also excited by exploring the boundaries of color printmaking, including monoprinting, to create more painterly prints - such as "Springtime" or "In From the Frost". Similarly, I delight in the (more or less) objective day-to-day visual world I try to distill in images like "Springtime", but also I'm increasingly drawn to the world of dreams and more-than-representational wonder of images like "Dancing Firelight".
