About the Artist
The type of paper collage I create is a balance of abstract images and realistic representation. Preparing the papers I am free to employ many abstract painting techniques, yet these are based on the true origins of the forms I am portraying. The depiction of traditional landscapes requires a keen eye for detailed analysis. For instance, in the Landis Barn piece I did a lot of research on maple trees; leaf shape (alive and fallen), branch placement and shape, tree shape, the play of light on leaves and branches; to create the feeling of standing underneath the tree canopy. The physical act of the final assembly satisfies my mechanical brain as I see the whole work come together. Lives and works in Ballston Spa, NY.
