My work is all about storytelling and/or delivering a story, statement, account or recreation of an event. I come from a long line of storytellers, whose stories come from separate backgrounds: from the mountains of Galicia in northern Spain, to the islands of Sicily and Canarias and were all blended by their immigration stories to Cuba. I make my work to express stories and events that interest me, such as the Book of Genesis from the Bible, or the legend of The Lilith, or re-interpreting the lives of the Superheroes to explore their human (if any) side.
In the work "Your Portrait in a Gallery of Portraits", two embedded screens play hundreds of images of portraits - both of famous and common people, while the third screen, using a hidden camera, shows the portrait of the person looking at the artwork.
The viewer becomes part of the artwork!
In the work "Lucy, Desi and Fidel", the narrative is made up: the legendary Cuban-American icon Desi Arnaz "walks in" as his wife Lucy is being seduced by the dictator Castro... meanwhile episodes of "I Love Lucy" play in the 1950s style TV.
