About the Artist
I work mostly with oil pastels and occasionally with oil paint and colored pencil on stretched canvas or panel. My choice of materials allows me the flexibility of painting but with the tactile nature of drawing. The finished pieces are varnished and don't require glass or matting.
For the past several years I've been interested in water imagery, as in my drawing Tunelist, and the transitive and temporal characteristics of a continually transforming theme. I enjoy the subject in its own right, but I also like it as a vehicle for exploring drawing. The patterns and textures of the water surface and subsurface, as well as the endless color variations of reflected light, are ideal sources for using color, line, and the calligraphy of drawing.
