I have always been an artist and have worked in many materials and medias. In art school I played around with mixed media sculpture and welding. Sculpting in metal was incredible and satisfying, I was finally able to create my visions in a way that felt very powerful and strong. I also started to work smaller using metals like copper, brass and silver. My designs were influenced by my move from the woods of NH to the big city of Boston and how suffocating and dirty I felt in an urban place. This aesthetic has continued in my work as I love to explore natural patterns and textures like feathers (Flight Earrings), scales, tentacles and leaves and contrast these elements with perfect geometric shapes and industrial details. I am fascinated by contrasting themes and the beauty created when they are joined, these include dark and light, hard and soft, shiny and matte. My work continues to expand exploring these ideas and I am always inspired by beauty in nature and urban landscapes.
