About the Artist
Mark C Campbell was raised in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and still enjoys the rivers, mountains, and shorelines of the state. Mark specializes in water scenes with a wide-angle view. Mark admires the works of Hopper, with his strong light and architecture, and Monet, with his magical natural light. Mark is neither a photorealist nor a pure plein air painter, but enjoys traveling, observing, sketching, and creating his own space on the canvas. His joy is illuminating that space. The great architect Lou Kahn, while lecturing at the University of Virginia, looked into the eyes of young Mark and said "But......light is the most important thing." Mark paints the light. Lives and works in Richmond, VA
