I am a visual artist residing in Virginia, originally from Serbia and having lived in Vancouver, Canada, before making my home in the USA, where I obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. My diverse background has greatly influenced my art, leading me to adopt a multi-dimensional approach that encompasses a variety of experiences and interests. My creations range from cheerful, decorative pieces to those addressing more thought-provoking subjects and themes but all that in some way speak to human experience and state of being in that moment of expression. I often layer bold geometric shapes with organic forms to achieve a visual balance, simultaneously abstracting the subject and its meaning and also encouraging viewers to reflect on their own perceptions. Currently, I continue to explore themes of perception, obscurity, and symbolism, emphasizing that what we see at first glance is not always the whole story or a true reality but in fact much more intricate.
This piece “Breathe” captures the essence of introspection and growth through the lens of a fragmented feminine form. Inspired by the fluidity of human emotions intertwined with the organic chaos of nature, the subject’s hair as a vibrant mosaic of geometric shards and blooming flora symbolize passion, serenity, and renewal and breaking free of restriction. Through this abstraction, I explore how personal identity blossoms from inner fragmentation, inviting viewers to reflect on their own metamorphosis in a world of constant change and deeper meaning of self.
