About the Artist

I discovered my passion for art in the midst of a career focused on the environment -- surprised by the joy I found in the creative process. While I have studied with many great teachers, I now am focused on experimenting and discovering new ways that glass and silver transform into beautiful natural forms.

My glass is inspired by nature -- specifically, trees and flowers. My wall art takes two primary forms. One, which I call “silvitrum”, uses two types of clear “alchemy” glass that react chemically to silver, transforming into gorgeous tones of gold, bronze and turquoise, After extensive experimentation with this technique, I have developed a style that use these colors to create trees and forest images, as well as more abstract designs. The second style incorporates layers and patterns of colored glass, using a high temperature fusing technique that allows the glass to move and flow, creating a depth of colors and images that you can lose yourself in.

My jewelry process starts by creating a stunning glass cabochon using layers of dichroic glass, alchemy glass and/or gold foil. I then decide what kind of setting the glass wants, making one-of-a kind designs. I especially like to desig innovative ways to integrate the chain into the piece, such as using silver tubing as part of the design.
