About the Artist
I am a lifelong woodworker. Everything about wood fascinates me. The variety and variations of the many species in my native Louisiana is a bit overwhelming to say the least. A dozen or so years ago I was turning wood on a lathe making hollow vessels. While these were in my opinion pretty dang cool….it just seemed that too much wood was being wasted to create a hollowed out vessel. The idea of a 2 dimensional wall art presentation was the challenge that awaited. After just a few experimental pieces, there was little doubt that this would be a full time venture into a somewhat unknown art form. Using every species available, cutting thin slices on different angles and axises ….it is a seemingly endless journey. I enjoy challenging myself not to just rinse, wash and repeat those images that have been proven winners. But to keep on dreaming up new creations and images. Not a day goes by that I can’t wait to wake up, get properly caffeinated and get busy in my studio.
