The artist is greatly inspired by depth psychologist, Carl Jung. Jung’s writings were a guide pointing to the necessary inner work for the artist to allow herself to bring her artist archetype out of the shadows, where it lived dormant and rejected. Jung's theories provided a roadmap to live more congruently with the Self, and the artist employs this consciousness in her designs. By starting with an internal question in Psyche, she projects the unresolved issue onto the material plane, generally allowing for easier handling of the issue through visual and material manipulation: the problem is (literally) easier to grasp. When aesthetic and functional goals are materially reached and discrepancies are resolved, this typically creates internal resolution as well. Her work becomes a form of symbolic language where art is a medium and a byproduct of the internal process leading toward a new plane of consciousness. Taking it one step further, the artist’s work aims to provide a unique, one-on-one platform for clients to create their ideal custom pieces. The artist holds space for individuals to examine their inner needs, manifested and expressed through the material. This also illuminates a new direction for the artist, as she pays attention to the expression of the foreign collective consciousness and finds a way to integrate it as her own. If you kindly reference the photo labeled ‘witch bag’, this is possibly the most clear example of the work. There is something archetypal about the curvature of the bags. “Witchy” is possibly the most collectively-agreed upon descriptor. This bag design surfaced during a time where the artist was combing through ‘earthy feminine energy’ that sometimes has a hard time expressing itself in modern society. By holding a seat at the table for this archetype, the energy found a way to land in the material plane through bold lines and unique curvature. By allowing this composition to exist through an accessory, the energy is validated, rejects erasure, and can persist through symbolic dialogue on the bag.
