My art is largely inspired by midcentury architecture and design. I have long been enamored by my hometown of Wildwood, New Jersey, where said architecture was prevalent throughout my childhood. By combining metal with a multitude of fabrication and chemical patina processes my goal is to bring those nostalgic design elements into the future by adding my own voice. My creative process very fluid as I strive to bring the vision in my head into fruition while letting the process itself shape the final result. The piece "Rebirth" was a vision I had putting myself back together after a challenging period in my life. I started with the large circle and an oval base I had formed from steel square bar. Next several 10 foot lengths of square bar were rolled into curves before being cut into various lengths. These became the building blocks to experiment with what would become the final composition, where the fluidity becomes very apparent. By arranging and rearranging these pieces discoveries were made in the moment diverging from the initial vision yet defining the end result. This push pull between what I see in my head and what is discovered along the way is what I love about the process and drives me to continue on.
