Biography

Germantown, MD

I make ceramic work as a way to slow down and engage with everyday life through imagination and play. I am drawn to familiar forms and quiet experiences that carry warmth, humor, and emotional presence. Clay becomes a space where imagination can take physical form.
My creative process begins with an understanding of clay as a material capable of holding form, texture, and imagination. Working primarily with slab hand building, I approach clay as a kind of quiet alchemy, where material, form, and imagination are transformed through making. Texture plays an important role in my work, ranging from soft, fabric-like qualities to surfaces inspired by natural elements such as sand, rock, and organic forms.
In Chicken in Sweater), I explore humor and tenderness through the pairing of an animal form with a familiar garment. The piece reflects my interest in warmth and play, while inviting a pause and a smile. Across my body of work, I aim to create ceramic pieces that encourage curiosity and delight, offering moments of connection — one piece at a time.
